Looking for Silence

130127_0009       The forest preserve welcomes me along its bumpy road, through the gate and into the clearing. I leave my car behind and anxiously start down the trail that calls me. Sounds of traffic begin to fade as I watch while the sun plays on the wild grasses and bounces off the trees- golden. My favorite time of the day in the woods.

“Lord, I did not come here to be with people or see pets or hear idle conversations. I came to hear YOU. To quiet my racing mind, to erase the tightness in my chest and feel at peace.”
